Bridal Beauty Series | Jake + Heather | Wedding Photographers in the Southeast & Destinations Worldwide
We are so excited about the start of this new blog series we’re calling the #bridalbeautyseries. Each post will consist of a fabulous wedding beauty professional sharing their favorite pro tip or bridal beauty secret with our readers. And we couldn’t think of any better way to kick off the fun than hosting our sweet friend, Joanna Ballentine of Irrelephant Blog, to spill her knowledge!

Joanna is a spunky mother of two & licensed cosmetologist with many years in the industry. If you have not heard of her precious online home, Irrelephant Blog, that she shares with her partner in crime, Molly, you need to check it out! You’re going to love what she has to share with you today.

“Let’s talk about dirty hair for a second. We’ve all heard it… “dirty hair is best for updos” but is it really? It truly depends on your definition of ‘dirty hair’. Product build up is the preferable texture since it provides grit, volume and hold. Unfortunately some people’s hair just gets oily after one day and that can result in flat unflattering hair. So I usually recommend that my brides come with clean hair because I can achieve the dirty hair effect without having to deal with oily build up. Just make sure to have this conversation with your stylist and what they prefer in advance so you and your bridal party come prepared to get the best outcome possible!”
